Me and the rest of the boys headed down to Capitola on Saturday to surf some easy, small southern-hemi swell. The girls met us mid-peninsula on the way home at a friend's house for an afternoon pool party. After much swimming, volleyball, and dancing till the sun went down, we headed back to San Fran.
First thing Sunday Morning, Heidi realized that she had left her phone charging in the kitchen at the party. Heidi, being the good sport that she is, drove down to Portola Valley to get her phone, and then drove a couple of minutes to the Stanford Mall to shop for a bit so I could bike down and meet her. I took the long way. Skyline is really beautiful and a great ride.
Just as I got to Old La Honda Road where I leave the mountains and head to the mall, there was a group of 20 or so Mexican men in their 40s and 50s digging into some watermelons. I stopped, had some watermelon, and chatted for a few. They had just made the ridge up Old La Honda and they were laughing and whooping it up for the few stragglers who were still working on the climb. They say they do a big ride every weekend. Nice.
Heidi was patiently shopping away as I pulled into the Mall. We had an early, big dinner and headed back to San Fran in the car to catch the Emmys.

All this talk of burning 4,000 calories, and I sit here eating a piece of cake and a cappucino. You're a machine, Arthur.
1Wow - how on Earth do you eat enough to burn 4,000 calories at once!? So impressed.
2o how i miss walking along the trail of the san andres fault... i used to live there, well it flew right into my backyard. my parents still live there, and i can't wait to visit. i miss shopping at the stanford mall too, o and i miss driving down 280. it truly is the prettiest highway.
i really miss my home.
3Arthur, I've been told by people who grew up here that only transplants tend to refer to San Francisco as "San Fran" and that SF or San Francisco are the more generally accepted terms. Just want you to fit in...
